Summer is here, Furry Creek shows itself from its most beautiful side! Orcas, humpbacks, salmon and sealions visit as do deer and other furry creatures. Lounge by the beach or enjoy the view from the spit.

New SLRD Wildfire Landscaping Bylaw

There is a new bylaw for all Electoral Areas of the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District – the Wildfire Landscaping Management Bylaw. This bylaw supports community wildfire resiliency by addressing landscaping practices and vegetation planted in close proximity to buildings and structures. The bylaw also supports implementation of the FireSmart™BC landscaping best practices, and is more of an educational tool rather than an enforcement tool.

Becoming Furry Creek...

In the 1870s, the creek was named after early prospector and settler Oliver Furry. Loggers worked the slopes, and a two adits from the Britannia Creek mine opened into Furry Creek where logging camps supplied timbers for mine shoring in the early 1900s.

Dams on Phyllis and Marion Lake and Furry Creek redirected water from Furry Creek to the Britannia mine for power generation. More...
