Re: Property Taxes, 2025
I am sure that you have by now read the message from Fine Peace and are wondering what the impact of this is going to be on your taxes. My wife and I are in exactly the same position. In SLRD budget meetings, a brief reference was made regarding the subject of the Fine Peace message but no details were given. At the present time, the Board of the SLRD do not know what the impact of the change in assessment will be.
I have asked Heather Paul, Chief Administrative Officer [CAO] of the SLRD to either provide me with a comprehensive briefing that I can present at the FCCA AGM or, preferably, arrange for senior staff to attend the meeting so that community members can ask their questions directly. At this time I do not have a confirmation from her as to what course of action she would like to pursue.
As I am not in a good position to answer questions at this time, I suggest that you send an email to the CAO at:
I will keep you informed of any new information that I get.
Tony Rainbow, Area D Director - SLRD
Thank you.

Spring is here, Furry Creek is about to show itself from its most beautiful side! Animals wake up from their slumber and orcas, humpbacks and salmon will traverse Howe Sound. Stay alert and aware as you hike, walk or run during this time. Furry neighbors will be around, but you may just miss a bloom if are you not. Happy Spring - This is Furry Creek.

Becoming Furry Creek...
In the 1870s, the creek was named after early prospector and settler Oliver Furry. Loggers worked the slopes, and a two adits from the Britannia Creek mine opened into Furry Creek where logging camps supplied timbers for mine shoring in the early 1900s.
Dams on Phyllis and Marion Lake and Furry Creek redirected water from Furry Creek to the Britannia mine for power generation. More...
